Gujarat’s Khavda region, part of the Little Rann of Kutch, is seeing a new model of organic salt farming using solar concentrators and saline-resistant seeds. Traditional Agariyas are being trained in low-impact harvesting techniques that preserve local flamingo habitats. The project includes micro-credits, health insurance, and fair trade certification. Organic salt crystals from the first batch were showcased at an international expo in Dubai. The model integrates ecology with livelihood.
